The pop-up phenomenon is here to stay. My new favorite, which comes in at a close second after VH1’s Pop Up Video, is the Pop Up Chef. This weekly event brings some of the city’s best chefs out from behind the kitchen into the streets of The Westside Provisions District every Wednesday afternoon.
I love this idea for a variety of reasons. 1) There is no better way for some of Atlanta’s culinary elite to get their creative juices flowing and experiment with new recipes. 2) Chefs come from all over the city, so you might not have to schlep across town anymore for your one of your favorite restaurants. 3) High end food served in a parking lot makes it perfectly acceptable to bring your Little Foodies. There happens to be a ping-pong table next to Jack Spade and clusters of Adirondack chairs scattered throughout for al fresco dining. 4) Scoutmob is offering a discount through the end of the month.
Big A scored a lunch the day her school was closed for parent-teacher conferences. Debriefing over deli featuring Chef Todd Ginsberg of General Muir’s reuben and kasha varnishkes hit the spot. Lunch wasn’t complete without a stop off at Star Provisions for a sweet lemon merengue.
